Update - drove 170 miles up to wvc tonight. 18 mpg. Oil pressure, water temp and alternator voltage all were steady at expected (good) levels. Cruised at 2100 rpm at 70 mph. The 403 was made for the oil embargo days, and california's tougher emission standards. I would flush the differential and transmission before a long drive, like california, but i'd confidently go 600 miles in it after that. Car is in amazing shape, considering it's original without a restoration. I've fallen in love with this car. I thought i'd never sell her. I'm raising money for a composites factory startup (not enough well paying jobs here in sanpete). She is a daily driver - she's not up to 20 mpg yet... Though i think she might be up to 18 mpg. Odometer says 28,000. She is 100% 0riginal and correct (all parts here, except driver's seat). The clock even works. T here's also original sheet metal in the form of a donor with solid quarter panels and flares, firewall and floor pans for future repairs. Extra doors, door internals, and front fenders. The donor also includes a spare transmission. The donor is practically a second firebird (it was an espirit with t-top), only missing parts on the donor are front end subassembly part of t-top, and motor/radiator. Everything there to do a correct frame off. Motor is solid, runs great, 100% all original as she came from the factory. Clean title in hand. I'll be in salt lake with the car through saturday (although i'll be busy from about 8am to 10pm every day - working at the first robotics event). Listed on ebay motors on a 5 day auction. Sold as is, where is.
